April – week 5

in my hands

the heartbeat of a fledgling

beneath his speckled breast

~

at my fingertips

the spread of a crow’s wings…

from lamp post

to sunlit patch of grass

and back…and back again

~

blossom storm —

the cat doesn’t know

where to pounce

~

a song thrush

in the blackthorn…

drifting

from the stave

the last notes of spring

~

April stillness —

the lifted foot

of a stalking heron

~

scent of white lilacs

and rain in the air,

your memory

and mine…

a heron unfolds

~

amongst reeds

the blossom-white neck

of an egret

~

breaking sun

a cloud’s petal-edge…

little egret

~

wind through reeds

a bunting sways

as he sings

~

wind song

sheet music

flutters

from the stand…

a reed bunting

~
