June – week 3

the fox’s pounce —

butterflies rise

from the flowers

~

the poetry

of my everydays…

a butterfly

dances

through the kitchen door

~

twittering goldfinches —

the vixen looks over

her shoulder

~

butterfly dust

on the heels

of summer

following the fox

along the beaten track

~

hushed voices…

a heron’s foot

stirs the water

~

a whisper

travels the length

of her spine…

a heron glides beyond

the reeds

~

crunch of gravel

meadow pipits parachute

back to earth

~

gathered up

in the silks of summer’s song…

keeping

the time

of dandelion clocks

~

in the golden grass

the lop-sided heart

of mating damselflies

~

a crimson darter

skims the mirror-lake…

your lips on mine

tomorrow

may never come

~

summer noon —

the russet colours

of the teal duck

~

so few breaths

between summer

and autumn

the teal turns

to preen its wing

~
