August – week 1

noisy gulls —

a cormorant tucks its bill

into its breast

~

twilight blues…

lowering the mainsail

the cries of gulls

~

glittering water…

on The Volunteer boat

a lone gull

~

lobster pots

stacked at the quayside

nothing to catch

but a young girl’s dreams

and the whispers of the tide

~

August morning…

a whisper of winter

on the robin’s breast

~

thoughts turn to you

when flame becomes song…

first robin

(For Svetlana)

Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment, Paul. The weeks are flying by and between life’s ups and downs, the poems come, but it’s the blogging that takes the time! Phew! We’re two thirds of the way through this project. It’s been harder than we imagined.
    All Best,
    Claire and Amy
